FUJIFILM has issued the first part of its hands-on video series for the GFX ETERNA 55.Imaging specialist Michael Bulbenko explains the camera’s physical layout, controls, and included accessories.

The GFX ETERNA 55 includes multiple 3/8-inch and 1/4-20 mounting points on the base, allowing direct use with standard tripods. A detachable top handle locks onto a recessed dovetail for added mounting and control options.

The package provides a top handle with multi-pin connectivity, a 5-inch LCD monitor with 2000 nits brightness, a monitor bracket with mixed threading, a PL lens adapter for the G mount, and an AC to 15V DC power adapter.

Rear-panel ports include SDI, HDMI, timecode, genlock, USB-C, Ethernet, and 3.5mm audio connections. Power inputs support 15V DC, V-mount batteries, Gold mount adapters, and a 12V front accessory output.

Native G-mount lenses attach directly and support autofocus. The PL adapter uses a four-bolt retaining ring for stability. LPL support is available through third-party adapters. Cooke /i data is supported via the adapter pins.

Menu screens and control layouts are mirrored on both sides of the camera. Lock switches can disable either side. Six core buttons provide direct access to key settings, while programmable buttons offer customization.

An NP-W235 battery acts as emergency backup power and charges while external power is connected. If primary power fails, the camera saves the clip and enters standby. Media slots support CFexpress Type B and SD cards.

Top Handle Features

The handle includes a control knob, zoom rocker, autofocus control stick, start/stop buttons, and function buttons. A hot shoe supports XLR audio adapters.

Availability

This chapter focuses on physical setup. FUJIFILM plans upcoming firmware updates including SDI RAW output and MXF playback changes.
