FUJIFILM has introduced the X-T50 Mirrorless Digital Camera, which features the same 40MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor as the X100VI and X-H2.
The camera supports up to 6.2K30p internal recording, AI-assisted autofocus, and includes a dedicated Film Simulation dial for the first time.
Key Features:
- 40.2MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR Sensor
- Dedicated Film Simulation Dial for Instant Switching
- 6.2K30p and 4K60p Video at Up to 4:2:2 10-Bit
- AI-Driven Autofocus with Enhanced Subject Tracking and Detection
- Up to 7-Stop In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), Native ISO 125
- Native Frame.io Camera to Cloud Functionality
Video Recording Capabilities
The APS-C-format 40.2MP sensor and X-Processor 5 allow for 10-bit 6.2K 30p, 4K 60p, or FHD 240p video recording. The additional resolution enables new 1.4x and 2x digital teleconverter modes, providing effective focal lengths of 49mm and 70mm. Depending on the shooting mode, digital teleconversion may be disabled or unavailable. The camera offers two F-Log recording options.
Recording Limits with Internal Battery:
- [6.2K]: Approximately 45 minutes (29.97p)
- [4K]: Approximately 45 minutes (59.94p)
- [Full HD]: Approximately 45 minutes (59.94p), Approximately 50 minutes (120p)
The camera includes an HDMI Micro connector (Type D) and a USB-C port.
Autofocus and Film Simulation
The X-T50 features an updated autofocus algorithm, using AI for faster autofocus and improved subject detection and tracking in various lighting conditions. A notable addition is the Film Simulation Dial, which allows for quick switching between different simulation modes.
The X-T50 introduces the new Film Simulation mode called REALA ACE, joining 19 other modes such as Provia, Velvia, Astia, Classic Chrome, and more. These modes reproduce the look and feel of FUJIFILM’s traditional film types. Additionally, a Grain Effect mode replicates the appearance of old film photos with a textured look, and Color Chrome and Color Chrome Blue effects enhance color depth and tonal response.
Image Stabilization and Connectivity
The X-T50 features in-body image stabilization that compensates for up to 7 stops of camera shake. For wireless connectivity, the camera includes Frame.io Camera to Cloud technology, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Users can connect to Frame.io via the camera’s built-in Wi-Fi or Ethernet LAN connection to deliver high-resolution raw or JPEG images, send h.264 video proxies, or upload video securely for review.
