Fylm.ai 2.0 Update: New Features and Enhancements

In October 2023, fylm.ai introduced its latest update, NeuralToneAI. The fylm.ai 2.0 update includes several new features: Capture One ICC profiles and styles export, an enhanced AI Magic Mode, improved handling of RAW files, and more.

This update aims to provide users with a smoother and more efficient experience.

Streamlined Interface

The updated design features a more streamlined interface with vertical tabs for easy navigation:

  • Vertical Tabs: Tools are now organized in a column on the left and can be grouped into categories. Selected tools are displayed in a separate ‘My Edits’ tab.
  • Editing Actions: Positioned in the left column next to Tools for easier access.
  • Assets, Discussion, and Export: Located on the right side of the interface, with specific tabs for Search, Candidates, and Matches.
  • Presets Tab: Presets have their own dedicated vertical tab.
  • Export Actions: Four vertical tabs on the right side for LUT export, XMP Profile export, Capture One ICC profile export, and Image save.
Capture One ICC Export

The 2.0 update allows users to export fylm.ai color grades to Capture One as ICC profiles. The Custom LUT tool enables conversion of third-party .cube LUTs into Capture One-compatible ICC profiles.

Enhanced Magic Mode

Magic Mode has been updated to include AI features prominently. The AI analyzes images for exposure, contrast, and white balance, then offers suggestions based on the analysis. Film Grades replace Cine Looks and Print Film Emulations, offering six color-grading options. The previous model is still available as a separate tool, with Magic Mode functioning like the previous version after initial AI suggestions.

Improved RAW File Handling

Fylm.ai now shows a JPEG preview initially, rather than automatically demosaicing files into the ProPhoto RGB color space. Full conversion occurs only when chosen by the user, speeding up the process by allowing immediate grading with the JPEG preview. RAW files are demosaiced to ACES 2065-1 color space using a 32-bit floating point, providing greater flexibility and quality in post-production.

Enhanced Color Control

Every tool in fylm.ai now includes opacity control for precise color grading. The new Vibrance tool boosts saturation of less-saturated colors while keeping already saturated colors mostly unchanged.

Price and Availability

Fylm.ai offers a free version as well as various paid levels to suit different needs. Current fylm.ai users will receive the 2.0 upgrade automatically upon opening the app, although clearing the cache may be necessary.
