Grass Valley, a leading provider of broadcast solutions, has joined forces with NVP, one of Italy’s largest broadcast service suppliers, to launch the groundbreaking NVP Innovation Hub.
The state-of-the-art facility is built on the open standard SMPTE ST 2110 and features Grass Valley’s advanced technologies, including GV Orbit orchestration, the AMPP SaaS platform, redundant GV Fabric IP switching, a Kahuna 9600 production switcher, a Kaleido-IP multiviewer, and Audio Live for AES67 IP streams routing.
Video Progetti, a trusted Grass Valley distributor and systems integrator, played a pivotal role in integrating all the Grass Valley equipment for the NVP Innovation Hub.
With a decade-long partnership with Grass Valley, NVP is no stranger to their cutting-edge solutions. With over 100 LDX cameras and six Kahuna production switchers, NVP recognized the immense potential of Grass Valley’s AMPP platform. AMPP offers a seamless integration of software- and hardware-based products, enabling NVP to deliver top-tier events for their customers, ranging from tier 1 sports productions to smaller, more intimate gatherings.
Following the success of the Cologno model, NVP plans to replicate this innovative broadcasting hub in Rome, Naples, and Messina. Currently, NVP manages at least one remote match per day, with the goal of increasing that number to three to five matches per day by the end of the Serie B 2022-23 championship. NVP’s expansion plans aim to further enhance their capabilities for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
The NVP Innovation Hub boasts two cutting-edge production studios, six dubbing rooms, and an OB VAN gateway. The gateway allows for quick integration of any OB Van from NVP’s fleet into the hub’s production studios. This flexibility enables productions in various formats, ranging from SD SDR to UHD HDR WCG.
Leveraging the GV Orbit orchestration, NVP seamlessly routes sources from any venue to their production control room or multiple other production control rooms. This is made possible by the AMPP on-premises and cloud technology, which provides increased scalability and flexibility in production. NVP has successfully utilized this setup to offer cost-effective remote production solutions for smaller sporting events, supplementing their on-premises production tools with cloud resources.
The NVP Innovation Hub also includes HiWay Media, a subsidiary of the NVP group of companies, which operates a specialized OTT platform for sports. With HiWay Media’s assistance, NVP can help their customers produce and promptly publish content, maximizing monetization opportunities.
The collaboration between Grass Valley and NVP has resulted in a groundbreaking broadcasting facility that pushes the boundaries of technological innovation. By harnessing the power of open standards, advanced orchestration, and scalable solutions, NVP is well-positioned to meet the diverse production needs of their customers, from minor events to high-profile sports productions.
