Grass Valley, a leading provider of live production solutions, has significantly modernized Bahrain TV, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s primary broadcast news and entertainment network.
Collaborating with its Diamond Partner, First Gulf Company (FGC), a systems integration leader, Grass Valley has redesigned Bahrain TV’s live IP video production environment. This project included the conversion of Bahrain TV’s master control suite into the first broadcast facility in the region to implement an IP playout system.
Upgraded News Studio with IP-Capable Systems
Bahrain TV, known as a reliable source for news and information across Bahrain, has upgraded its main live news studio with advanced IP-capable Grass Valley systems. The UHD news studio now features the latest Kayenne K-Frame switcher, EDIUS X Pro nonlinear editing solution, and Sirius 840 576×576 router with integrated multiviewer capability.
Enhanced Infrastructure and Cost Savings
Grass Valley’s commitment to delivering a state-of-the-art IP broadcast infrastructure tailored to Bahrain TV’s needs is evident in the new modular, scalable IP-based playout system. According to Eng. Abdullah Albalooshi, Undersecretary of Technical Affairs at Bahrain TV, the new system is expected to bring significant cost savings by reducing hardware costs associated with traditional broadcast setups. The streamlined workflow processes and operational efficiencies will also enhance productivity by minimizing manual interventions and enabling faster content delivery.
Key Features of the IP Playout Solution
The IP playout solution includes Grass Valley’s IP-capable Masterpiece IP UHD master control system, UCP 3901 video gateways, and a 2 rack-unit MV-821 IP standalone multiviewer with four outputs. The suite also incorporates GV Orbit for the dynamic orchestration of Bahrain TV’s IP broadcast environment.

Bahrain TV anticipates additional benefits such as easy scalability without the need for significant capital investments. Improved viewer experience and greater audience engagement are expected to drive advertising revenue growth.
