Grass Valley, in partnership with Beijing Sailing Hightop Technology Development Co., Ltd., delivered a new 4K UHD outside broadcast truck to Guangdong Radio and Television (GRT).
A handover event with executives from all three organizations marked an important step for China’s shift toward IP-based broadcast production.
Project Completion
Sailing Hightop noted that close coordination across system design, integration, and commissioning allowed the project to be finished on schedule and within budget. GRT stated that the new unit will support the production of major sports and entertainment events in 4K UHD.
First Native-IP UHD OB Truck in China
The new OB vehicle is China’s first Native-IP UHD system, replacing traditional baseband workflows. The fully IP-based design improves flexibility, scalability, and operational efficiency.
The unit includes Grass Valley LDX 135/150 cameras and a K-Frame CXP switcher, enabling 4K and 8K live production with HDR and WCG support. It also offers distributed workflows with GV Orbit SDN and AMPP, preparing the system for future cloud-based operations. Space efficiency and multi-platform delivery, including native landscape and portrait output, are also integrated.
Regional Collaboration
Grass Valley emphasized its commitment to advancing IP-based production in the Asia-Pacific region. The collaboration with Sailing Hightop and GRT supports China’s transition toward modern UHD and 8K content workflows.
