Gustavo Robles, Sales Director at AEQ, participated in the traditional TKT1957 survey at the end of the year.

  1. What trends will be the most important for the broadcast, cinema, and Pro AV industries in the next five years?

We can discuss broadcast and Pro AV because we are not heavily involved in cinema projects. For broadcast and Pro AV, we consider the following trends to be most important today: IP technology, cloud/virtualization, and AI.

In 99.9% of our projects, IP technology is the core of the installation because it offers more flexibility, capacity, and interoperability. Virtualization is also becoming essential in many markets and projects, as customers seek systems without specific hardware, relying on cloud-based processing. This results in fewer installed units in studios and more PCs.

Finally, AI, while still in its infancy, promises significant changes in all human activities, including broadcast and Pro AV. This is just the beginning.

2. Which technologies and solutions have the greatest potential?

I would mention the three previous points, along with remote productions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many broadcast procedures adapted to remote production, proving its effectiveness, cost-efficiency, and convenience.

What do you think has little chance of success?

In my personal opinion, 8K. While 4K has seen real success, I don’t see the next step as a major concern at the moment.

  1. How did 2023 influence your company?

After years of the COVID-19 pandemic, 2023 was finally a very normal year. We attended numerous trade shows, made many customer visits, and had customers visit the AEQ factory in Madrid. This return to normalcy significantly boosted project installations. We even surpassed our record for worldwide installations and dealers, with over 8,000 active customers in 106 different countries.

What were the most important events in 2023 for your company? This is an excellent question. While we value all our projects and customers, some stand out due to their significance or size:

  • We introduced the AEQ Venus 4, a new IP audiocodec, and within a few months, the Spanish Radio & TV Corporation purchased more than 400 units of our codecs.
  • In the Asian Games 2023, AEQ was the audio technology provider, supplying our AEQ Olympia 3 commentary units and AEQ Netbox 32 audio IP interfaces.
  • Our AEQ Capitol audio mixer played a role in a Guinness World Record in Australia for the longest uninterrupted program in history (more than 55 hours).
  1. What plans does your company have for 2024?

AEQ aims to continue supporting the activities of our end-users and dealers with our technology. We plan to introduce new systems and devices over the next 12 months, some of which may align with the trends I mentioned earlier, but specifics remain confidential for now.

Additionally, we aim to expand our international presence in new markets, with new customers and dealers in new countries.
