Haivision unveils the latest budget-friendly addition to the Makito family: the single-channel Haivision Makito X4 video encoder, now available for orders.
Haivision Makito video encoders were first introduced in 2009 and have since won multiple awards for their high-quality, ultra-low latency and rock-solid reliability. Over the years as the industry evolved, we’ve delivered innovative updates to the Makito software and offered new Makito models for emerging use cases and industries.
Makito X4 Video Encoder
Designed for the live broadcast professional that wants to do more with less, the single-channel Makito X4 encoder features all the same capabilities as the popular quad-channel Makito X4, but with a single HD/UHD channel configuration and at a lower price point.
The new single-channel model can encode 4K, HD, and SD at up to full 2160p50/60 4K UHD or 1080p50/60 HD video sources with 4:2:2 10-bit H.264/AVC and H.265/HEVC and ultra-low latency, just like the quad-channel Makito X4. This new model can encode up to eight channels of digital audio and includes native support for SRT and SMPTE ST 2110.
Since its introduction, the Makito X series of encoders has been relied on for broadcast workflows by some of the biggest broadcasters in the world. In addition, the Makito family has expanded to power workflows across several industries including the Makito X4 Rugged for mission-critical applications and the recently released Makito FX, a new encoder ideal for field deployments due to its compact form factor and fanless operation.
