Globo, a major media company in Brazil, is migrating its playout workflow to the cloud with Harmonic.
The transition involves the use of Harmonic’s VOS® Media Software, which will allow Globo to launch linear playout channels more efficiently and reduce operational costs.
Cloud Adoption for Improved Workflow Management
Mauricio Felix, Technology Director at Globo, stated that the company’s linear channels currently reach over 100 million viewers across multiple platforms. The shift to a cloud-based workflow is aimed at maintaining technological progress. Globo selected Harmonic for its established cloud-native media software, expertise in cloud playout, and local support.

Integration with Aveco Automation System
Globo will integrate the VOS Media Software with an Aveco automation system to streamline its playout operations. The software operates on Google Cloud, providing Globo with enhanced scalability, flexibility, and reliability. VOS software connects and synchronizes microservices across all workflows, ensuring end-to-end operation.
Implementation of Cloud-Based Playout in LATAM
Gil Rudge, Senior Vice President of Products and Americas Sales at Harmonic, mentioned that Globo will be the first media company in the LATAM region to deliver 24/7 channels using a cloud-based playout and automation solution.
