Harvard Media, based in Regina, has announced a slight reorganization of its Alberta operations. The media company, which owns Red Deer’s X100.7 (CKEX-FM) and Kraze 101.3 (CKIK-FM), is reducing staff in this location while expanding its team in Fort McMurray, where it operates Mix 103.7 (CFVR-FM) and 100.5 CRUZ FM (CHFT-FM).
This change affects five employees in the programming and promotions departments. George Leith, the Executive Vice-President and Managing Partner, mentioned in a conversation with Broadcast Dialogue that three individuals from the Red Deer team are being offered new roles within the company.

Leith explained that this restructuring is part of the company’s Enterprise content brand strategy initiated in February 2023. The aim is to increase the presence of announcers in Fort McMurray to actively engage in local community initiatives.
Previously, the Fort McMurray stations primarily used voice tracking from personalities in other Harvard Media locations, except for their local morning shows. This shift follows a workforce reduction of about 10% in April across Harvard Media’s 13 radio stations in Alberta and Saskatchewan, as part of a strategy to reallocate resources towards digital expansion.
The AV & Media Central Asia 2025 audiovisual technology exhibition will take place on October 2–3 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
