Hawk-Woods Unveils VL-OCIR Adapter for Sony BURANO and V-Lock Cameras

Hawk-Woods has unveiled its latest addition to camera accessories, the VL-OCIR Hot Swap Adapter, specifically designed to complement the Sony BURANO.

This new adapter is not only compatible with the BURANO’s design but is also versatile enough to be used with any camera equipped with a V-lock battery plate.

Key Features of the VL-OCIR

The Hawk-Woods VL-OCIR adapter boasts four D-Tap ports along with a USB-C output, catering to the need for multiple power outputs. It is engineered to accommodate two mini-sized V-lock batteries, enhancing the camera’s operational time and facilitating hot-swapping capabilities. However, the USB-C output’s voltage specification is currently not disclosed by Hawk-Woods.

Despite its advanced features, the adapter does not include any LEMO power outputs, a choice that may come as a surprise to some users. A combination of D-tap and LEMO outputs would have been preferred by many, considering the increasing number of accessories powered through LEMO cables.

Advanced Monitoring and Indicator System

The VL-OCIR incorporates an internal board designed to monitor power consumption and the load of connected equipment. It features a dual LED indicator that aids in determining the optimal timing for hot-swapping batteries, ensuring uninterrupted camera operation.

Design and Compatibility

The adapter’s construction allows for the placement of D-taps on either the left or right side, making it highly adaptable to various camera setups. With a weight of 400g (14.21 oz), it adds minimal bulk to the camera rig.

Pricing and Availability

While the exact price of the Hawk-Woods VL-OCIR Hot Swap Adapter is yet to be announced, it is expected to be in the vicinity of $300 USD, aligning with the pricing of similar products from Hawk-Woods. The availability details remain unspecified, inviting potential users to stay tuned for further updates
