HBCU GO Employs Chyron’s Advanced Technology for High-Quality HBCU Football Broadcasts

Chyron, through its Hego division, is collaborating with HBCU GO, the premier broadcaster for America’s 105 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), to enhance their NCAA Division I and II football game broadcasts.

This partnership involves providing a comprehensive graphics solution and advanced sports analysis tools. By leveraging Chyron’s cutting-edge Virtual 1st system and PAINT telestration tool, along with dedicated on-site operators, HBCU GO has significantly upgraded its broadcast quality, rivaling major network productions.

Impact and Technology Integration:
HBCU GO’s Founder, Curtis Symonds, highlights the transformative impact of Chyron’s technology. It offers exceptional in-game analysis and storytelling about players, thereby maintaining high production standards in live football coverage. This technology underlines HBCU GO’s dedication to representing the diverse and rich cultural experiences at HBCUs. The Virtual 1st system ensures high-quality visual representation of each play, while the PAINT telestration tool enhances the depth and insight offered by the commentary team.

Previous Season Success and Future Enhancements:
During the 2022-23 NCAA football season, HBCU GO successfully used the Virtual 1st system to integrate dynamic on-field graphics like scrimmage and first-down lines, as well as sponsored ads, into live broadcasts. This system, based on sophisticated real-time image-processing algorithms, allows for quick calibration and setup.

For the 2023-24 season, HBCU GO is further enhancing its broadcast quality by utilizing PAINT’s extensive replay and 3D telestration capabilities. The network plans to cover 22 games, including two championship bowls, featuring teams from NCAA Division I and II, across various athletic conferences like CIAA, SIAC, and SWAC.
