OffShoot: A Revolutionary Addition to Hedge’s Software Lineup

The company’s software range has become more diverse and seamlessly integrated across various stages of the creative process. From copying original camera files (OCF) to collaborative editing and LTO archive management, Hedge offers tailored solutions for individual workflows. Visitors can present unique workflows, and Hedge will assist in optimizing them.

OffShoot Versions: Tailoring Solutions to Your Filmmaking Workflow

Following the earlier announcement of Hedge’s transition to OffShoot, the team has actively engaged with customers in beta testing. Exceptional feedback from testers has greatly improved the product. OffShoot will be showcased ahead of its official release in October.

To cater to a wider audience, OffShoot will be available in several versions: OffShoot Solo (for iPadOS), OffShoot, and OffShoot Pro. This flexibility allows users to select the version that best suits their needs. The new OffShoot features an updated user interface, while the Pro version adds support for AWS S3 cloud storage, scripting, an API, and compatibility with the latest ARRI Alexa camera formats (Codex 7). It also introduces a new subscription model with floating licenses and Connect 3, the next-generation universal push notification system.

OffShoot Pro: Unleashing Advanced Features for Filmmakers

OffShoot encompasses essential features and functionality, targeting users seeking accelerated data transfers and secure copy verification.

With the release of OffShoot, Hedge is adopting a floating license model to provide customers with flexibility and control over licensing expenses. A floating license ensures constant access to OffShoot.

OffShoot Pro and AWS S3: Bridging the Gap to Cloud-Based Filmmaking

Besides automation and Codex support, OffShoot Pro streamlines transfers to Amazon S3, enabling secure media transfer to cloud storage for the first time. This feature facilitates the integration of cloud workflows and participation in broader media workflow initiatives within AWS (Amazon Web Services), marking a significant advancement for OffShoot and Hedge in supporting production workflows across all industry levels.

Connect 3: Revolutionizing Notification Systems for Filmmaking

Connect 3 introduces a cloud-based notification system that can be seamlessly integrated across Hedge’s entire product lineup. Users can monitor transfer statuses via a web interface on all instances of OffShoot they manage, regardless of their location. This enhances resource coordination, especially for large organizations with footage spread across multiple locations.

Seamless Upgrade: OffShoot Free for Existing Hedge Customers

OffShoot will be available as a free update for existing Hedge customers with active support for the current Hedge application, with upgrade options for other users.

Hedge’s IBC 2023 Presentation: Automating Filmmaking Workflows

As part of their IBC 2023 presentation, Hedge will demonstrate how scripting can be employed to create advanced workflows. Visitors will witness firsthand how their software can automate proxy workflows using OffShoot Pro, FoolCat, EditReady, and the new Amazon S3 integration. This demonstration will be available at the Hedge booth and the AWS booth during the exhibition.

Mimiq: Expanding Flexibility with New Storage Vendor Partnerships

The latest Mimiq release continues to provide editors with flexibility by removing limitations associated with proprietary storage systems. With Mimiq, users can select their preferred storage vendor and tailor their system to their requirements. Mimiq supports SMB, NTFS, AFP connections, and LucidLink, an innovative cloud storage solution. Mimiq Pro introduces Workspaces, allowing users to mount folders or shares from various NAS, SAN, and DAS systems. Workspaces enable discrete mount points on a storage array, and Mimiq facilitates bin locking, regardless of the chosen storage solution.

Project Licenses: Flexible Cost Management with Mimiq

The latest Mimiq version also introduces Project Licenses, an alternative to the subscription model, allowing users to manage rolling costs month-to-month, synchronizing with monthly Media Composer expenses without being tied to annual or perpetual licenses.

Open Workflow Bundle: A Scalable Solution by Hedge and iodyne

At IBC 2023, visitors can witness Mimiq in action with Quantum, Qumulo, and iodyne. In partnership with iodyne, Hedge is also announcing the Open Workflow Bundle, designed as a scalable solution for small workgroups. This bundle offers high-speed Thunderbolt networking, easy scalability for increased capacity, and support for copper-based expansion, seamlessly fitting into existing network infrastructures.

PostLab Technology Preview: Collaborative Filmmaking at Its Best

Hedge will also showcase a technology preview of the new PostLab at IBC 2023, their collaborative application for Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro. This next-generation release introduces support for various creative apps, Event Locking for Final Cut Pro, and introduces DropOff, a new way for external collaborators to upload files directly to a LucidLink Filespace.

Event Locking and DropOff: PostLab’s Next-Generation Features

The original PostLab version was designed to facilitate collaboration among Final Cut Pro editors. With Event Locking, they provide editors with a high degree of granular control. The new PostLab version will be available as a public beta later this year.

Many Hedge customers have been early adopters of LucidLink, and DropOff provides them with a secure method for receiving media in LucidLink. Users can send custom links, allowing recipients to utilize a web interface to drag-and-drop content directly into their Filespaces.

Canister: Modernizing LTO Backup and Archive Solutions

LTO remains an affordable local backup and archive option for many Hedge customers. The new Canister version includes support for the Connect 3 notification system, and Canister for Windows is set to be released in October.
