Hyperdolly represents a significant advancement in camera dolly technology. This innovative concept is the creation of Ukrainian filmmaker and entrepreneur Andrii Statieva. He aimed to develop a user-friendly, easily set-up product capable of delivering automated camera dolly movements.
Previously, the team behind Hyperdolly had attempted to fund its development through an Indiegogo campaign, but due to insufficient entrepreneurial experience, the campaign fell short of its goal. However, armed with newfound knowledge and an enhanced version of the product, the team is now poised to successfully introduce Hyperdolly to the market.
Setting up the Hyperdolly is a quick process, manageable by just one person, making it an ideal solution for small production teams or solo operators. It features universal tripod brackets, compatible with any appropriately sized and built tripod.
The dolly is powered by a silent, high-torque stepper motor that ensures precise movement. It has a carrying capacity of 12 kg (26.4 lbs), accommodating small to medium-sized cinema cameras.
Controlled by a dedicated remote with a range exceeding 100 meters, Hyperdolly operates on two 14500 batteries, supporting up to 5 hours of runtime.
Hyperdolly’s capabilities extend beyond simple point-to-point movement. It offers various modes, including:
Hyperlapse Mode: Users set the shot’s time and distance, and the dolly calculates motion patterns and camera shutter release timing.
Loop Mode: The dolly repeatedly moves between two points.
Multi-Pass Mode: It travels to a designated point and returns to the starting position multiple times.
Live Operation: Users can adjust the dolly’s speed and direction in real-time via the intuitive remote control.
While Hyperdolly is designed for flat surfaces, the team is developing wheels to navigate floor irregularities like cracks and bumps. They are experimenting with different shapes and materials to enhance the final product’s performance, hoping to finalize development with funds raised through a Kickstarter campaign.
