Ikegami: A wide range of solutions for broadcasting production on CABSAT and Broadcast Asia

Ikegami

Following a highly attended NAB Show in Las Vegas in April 2024, Ikegami showcased its extensive range of broadcast production cameras, control systems, and monitors at CABSAT in Dubai (May 21-23) and Broadcast Asia in Singapore (May 29-31).

Neuss, Germany – June 12, 2024

“Highlight of our CABSAT exhibit was the UHK-X700 IP-capable 4K-UHD HDR camera,” says Abdul Ghani, General Manager, Ikegami Middle East. “This gives content producers the freedom to master in 2160p, 1080p/1080i or 720p at 50 Hz or 59.94 Hz. Optional high frame-rate capture via our BSX-100 base station and CCU-X100 camera control unit allows up to 8x speed production in HD or 2x in 4K. The UHK-X700’s creative versatility, high signal quality and robust build have made this camera very popular with media content producers and broadcasters around the world.”

UHK-X700

Designed for pedestal-mounted, tripod-mounted or shoulder operation, the UHK-X700 incorporates three 2/3-inch CMOS UHD sensors with a global shutter to minimise artifacts when shooting LED screens or scenes illuminated with flash or strobe lighting. Weighing only 5 kg, the camera comes with a B4 lens mount and has an optical sensitivity of F11 at 4K-UHD/50p.

Full HDR/SDR support is included as standard plus the ability to choose between BT.2020 and BT.709 chroma spaces. Combining the BSX-100 base station or CCU-X100 camera control unit with the UHK-X700 offers the ability to output UHD and HD simultaneously. IP I/O is available as an option via the BSX-100 or CCU-X100.

UHL-F4000

Also demonstrated at CABSAT, Ikegami’s UHL-F4000 is a power-efficient and lightweight UHD HDR camera designed for applications such as helicopter-mounted aerial video capture in a wide range of night or day conditions. The 100 x 128 x 90 mm camera head has three UHD CMOS global shutter sensors capturing natural images completely clear of geometric distortion and flash band effects. Image adjustment capabilities include noise removal, digital zoom, haze reduction, image sharpening, vertical image reversal and HD-from-UHD segment selection.

A duplex optical fibre connection communicates between the ultra-compact camera head and 145 x 145 x 173 mm CCU which can be positioned up to 10 km apart. The optical fibres can be integrated into a bidirectional core via optical circulators and passed through a single-core fibre-optic rotary joint. 12 volt DC power is the only other required connection to the camera head. Other signals include genlock and remote control interface to the CCU. The CCU is compact and lightweight, simultaneously delivering HDR-compatible UHD and HD video.

Ikegami HDK-X500

“Broadcast Asia saw the APAC market introduction of our latest-generation HDK-X500 camera, OCP-500 control panel and two additions to the HLM series video monitors,” adds Yasunori Kanno, President of Ikegami Electronics Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. “The HDK-X500 gives customers the freedom to invest in new tools when needed rather than at the time of initial purchase. Available options include wide colour gamut, SDI/IP hybrid or full IP connectivity and upscaling from Full HD to 4K-UHD resolution.”

The Ikegami HDK-X500 is equipped for use across a wide spectrum of applications including pedestal-mounted studio operation, tripod-based sports coverage and shoulder-mounted EFP/ENG. Features include three latest-generation 2/3-inch CMOS global shutter sensors plus automatic optical vignetting correction throughout the range of OVC-compatible B4 bayonet mount zoom lenses. RBF-compatible lens back-focus can be adjusted even when the camera head is in a remote location. Optimal control of ambient lighting, studio or outdoor, is supported by the same neutral-density and colour-compensation dual filter system used in Ikegami’s most advanced cameras. The camera’s integral digital processor provides 16-axis colour correction, allowing precise scene matching or to create specific effects.

OCP-500

Ikegami’s new OCP-500 operation control panel allows the HDK-X500 to be controlled fully remotely. Just 82 mm in width, it offers space-saving efficiency without compromising on functionality. Up to five OCP-500 panels fit in the space of four OCP-300 control units.

Self-illuminating control buttons improve operation in dimmed sub-control room environments. Power consumption has been reduced to approximately half of the OCP-300. Data can be stored or shared via USB memory sticks.

HLM-2460WA and HLM-1860WR

Ikegami’s HLM-2460WA and HLM-1860WR HD video monitors, making their APAC debut, build on the features and performance of the HLM-2460W. The 24 inch Ikegami HLM-2460WA reproduces more accurate dynamics of the source images thanks to an IPS LCD panel with 1,800:1 contrast ratio and 400 nits peak brightness. The HLM-2460WA fits into broadcast environments such as edit suites where a computer-friendly WUXGA display resolution is preferred, and for integration into monitor walls.

The HLM-1860WR features a larger 18.5-inch IPS LCD panel than its HLM-1760WR predecessor – within the same 19-inch rack-width 7 U chassis. Its display has a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 500 nits peak brightness, reproducing clear images even in outdoor environments. The HLM-1860WR can be powered from AC mains or 12 volts DC. Additional features of both models include user-definable onscreen guides (up to 12 lines or boxes) which can be positioned using a USB mouse. Dynamic and static UMD are also supported.
