ASM Global Upgrades to Ikegami HDK-99 Cameras at Mechanics Bank Arena

ASM Global, a leading provider of resources for live events worldwide, has upgraded its video production equipment to Ikegami HDK-99 cameras at Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield, California.

The arena, which serves as the home ground for the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League, boasts a seating capacity of 10,225 and is complemented by a theater with 3,000 seats and a convention center covering 100,000 square feet. It stands as Bakersfield’s top destination for a variety of live entertainment, including sports, family events, and concerts.

Long-standing Partnership with Ikegami

John Lees, the Operations Manager for ASM Global Bakersfield, highlighted the company’s longstanding relationship with Ikegami cameras, noting that they have been a staple in their production workflows since the venue’s inauguration over two decades ago. The recent acquisition includes three HDK-99 production setups complete with lenses and viewfinders, chosen for their high signal quality, flexibility, and ease of use. Lees emphasized the cameras’ High Dynamic Range (HDR) capabilities as a significant advantage, enabling the production of more realistic content, ready for future industry-wide adoption of HDR standards.

Advanced Features of the HDK-99 Cameras

The HDK-99 cameras are equipped with three 2.6 megapixel CMOS sensors, producing outstanding 1920 x 1080 resolution images with progressive scanning. They are capable of generating 4K quality footage via the camera control unit and support High-Log Gamma (HLG) for enhanced contrast, aligning with the ITU-R BT.2100 international HDR standard. With noise levels below -62 dB and a sensitivity of F11, these cameras ensure high-quality captures under various conditions.

These devices support a wide range of formats, including 1080i, 720p, and 1080p, across various frame rates, as well as 3G HDTV formats. Unique features such as lens aberration correction and adjustable viewfinder settings for area size, color, and display duration further enhance their usability.

Ikegami’s Industry Impact

Ikegami, renowned for its high-end broadcast equipment, continues to lead in the production of professional television, medical imaging, and security cameras. Their commitment to quality is evident in the latest technologies, including CMOS imagery, 4K, and 8K resolutions, offering flexibility across multiple formats and exemplary customer service for a broad range of applications in broadcasting, sports, education, and beyond.
