Ikegami Electronics has successfully completed the delivery of 27 advanced UHK-X700 4K-UHD HDR camera systems to a prominent public service television network in the Iberian region.
The delivery was organized into three distinct phases. The initial two phases saw the provision of 18 cameras designed for mobile production, which are operated from outside broadcasting (OB) trucks. The final phase involved the supply of nine cameras for in-studio productions at the network’s main facility.
Recognized Quality and Competitive Pricing
Michael Laetzsch, the Broadcast & Professional Video Division Manager at Ikegami Europe, stated that the network’s operational and technical team highly praised the Ikegami UHK-X700 cameras for their superior quality and competitive pricing compared to other evaluated options. The delivered camera chains include the VFL-701D 7 inch studio viewfinder, BSX-100U base station, and OCP-300 operation control panel. Additionally, Ikegami provided eight VFL201D 2-inch monocular viewfinders and three master control panels (MCP) to the broadcaster.
Future-Proof Flexibility and Workflow
Gisbert Hochguertel, an Ikegami Europe Product Specialist, emphasized the media organizations’ necessity for future-proof flexibility in production workflow. The UHK-X700 cameras offer the ability to operate in various resolutions and formats, including 4K-UHD, 1080p, or 1080i, in both standard and high dynamic range, as well as standard or wide color gamut. This ensures the content remains relevant and maintains a long commercial life, especially for high-budget productions. The cameras are also capable of multi-format workflows.
Advanced Features and Specifications
The UHK-X700 is equipped with three 2/3-inch CMOS 4K sensors with a global shutter, eliminating rolling-shutter distortions and flash-banding artifacts. An ASIC chip powers the camera, allowing for compact yet advanced video processing functions. It supports high frame-rate shooting, essential for capturing fast motion in sports or stage events. The camera is compatible with B4 lens mounts and boasts an optical sensitivity of F11 at 4K/50p. Designed for both studio and outdoor use, it operates in temperatures ranging from -20 to +45 °C and can withstand 30% to 90% non-condensing humidity.
Connectivity and Control
The UHK-X700, combined with the BSX-100 base station, enables secure connections up to 3,000 meters from the operating location, including power supply to the camera head. It supports simultaneous output in HD SDR and UHD HDR video formats and can be integrated into wireless systems with a 12G-SDI feed directly from the camera head. The OCP-300 controller supports both conventional and Ethernet-based control systems, featuring a touchscreen LCD, rotary encoders, and a memory card slot for comprehensive camera setup and management, further enhanced by PoE capabilities.
