Interra Systems at 2024 MPTS: New Advances in Media Quality Assurance

Interra Systems is set to present its new product advancements at the 2024 Media Production & Technology Show (MPTS) in London, occurring from May 15 to 16.

The event will feature the latest developments in quality assurance technologies across the media sector. The focus will be on the newly upgraded Baton, along with the Orion monitoring suite and Vega media analyzer.

Product Enhancements and Features

The updated Baton platform now incorporates a new engine for improved performance and includes AI and machine learning capabilities, setting higher standards in automated quality control (QC). Significant upgrades such as the Baton 9.0 engine, support for NGINX server, Python 3.x, and Postgres are expected. The Orion and Orion-OTT systems have been adapted for various deployment environments including hybrid and cloud setups, now supporting features like Dolby Atmos and Single Sign-On via SAML. The Vega media analyzer continues to support a broad range of industry compression standards and has been enhanced for better debugging and compliance testing.

AI and Quality Control Focus at SMPTE Technology Conference

Penny Westlake, director of Europe for Interra Systems, will participate in a panel at the SMPTE Technology Conference, also hosted at MPTS. The discussion, scheduled for May 15 at 11:50 a.m., will explore the impact of AI on the media industry, covering its current applications and future potential.

The latest iteration of Baton not only enhances QC workflows but also includes a Diagnostic Tool for system health checks and improved API integrations. Orion’s content monitoring capabilities are now expanded to accommodate next-generation broadcast environments with its new Orion 2110 Probe, which supports the SMPTE ST 2110 standard for IP video quality monitoring. The Orion Central Manager (OCM) facilitates centralized control of IP and OTT probes, enhancing error detection and ad insertion monitoring.

Enhancements in Captioning and Analysis

Baton Captions now features machine learning and automatic speech recognition technologies to aid broadcasters with caption generation, quality control, and editing tasks. The Vega Media Analyzer has been upgraded to support newer industry standards and provide enhanced media analysis capabilities.
