ST Engineering iDirect, a leading company in satellite communications, has announced the availability of Intuition, its next-generation cloud-native, software-defined ground system.
The platform is designed to operate in multi-orbit environments and is now available for customer testing and integration.
Cloud-Native, Multi-Orbit Ground System
Intuition is engineered to improve how satellite networks are deployed and how connectivity services are delivered. The platform combines ST Engineering iDirect’s existing technologies with cloud-based and standards-based solutions, designed to help customers scale their operations efficiently while maintaining service quality.
Testing and Early Integration
This initial release allows customers to begin integrating Intuition into their network environments ahead of its general release in 2025. Customers will have the opportunity to test the platform’s new features, including its cloud-native infrastructure, advanced mobility, and multi-orbit capabilities.
Cloud Migration Capabilities
Customers can begin to use Intuition’s hub compute rack (DCR) in private cloud environments, offering enhanced operational flexibility and enabling smooth cloud migration for network processing.
Advanced Network Management System
Intuition’s Network Management System (NMS) is built on a microservices architecture with standards-based APIs. This system supports a large number of terminals and provides a single view of network performance and usage, allowing for real-time, data-driven decisions.
Improved Mobility and Multi-Orbit Functionality
The platform offers improved mobility with faster beam mapping and domain-based automatic beam switching (D-ABS). Additionally, a new satellite tracking solution supports seamless multi-orbit operations.
Global Bandwidth Management
Intuition integrates Global Bandwidth Management (GBWM) technology, which allows customers to optimize service level agreements, providing a competitive edge for global operators.
Future-Ready Investment Protection
Customers can use Intuition’s infrastructure and modems to assess the lifecycle of their existing technology and develop strategies for adoption that ensure future success.
Customer-Specific Integration
According to Don Claussen, CEO of ST Engineering iDirect, the company is working closely with customers to integrate Intuition into their specific network environments. This phased release is a step toward the full availability of Intuition in 2025.
ST Engineering iDirect will continue to offer support as customers prepare for the platform’s complete release next year.
