Filmscape, a non-profit organization focused on developing resources for individuals pursuing careers in film and television in the Chicago metro area, recently hosted its annual ‘Filmscape Conference.

The event was livestreamed on YouTube, utilizing JVC Professional Video’s PTZ cameras to capture and broadcast the sessions effectively.

Camera Setup and Configuration

For the livestream, Filmscape employed one KY-PZ510WU PTZ camera as the primary camera to track individual presenters and two KY-PZ400NWU PTZ cameras positioned to cover panel discussions. The cameras were managed using the RM-LP100U remote camera controller. The KY-PZ510 was set up on a large stand to follow the speaker, while the KY-PZ400 cameras were strategically placed—one mounted on a wall and the other suspended from the ceiling.

Benefits of PTZ Cameras

Gary Adcock, Executive Director of Filmscape, highlighted the advantages of using JVC’s PTZ cameras, emphasizing their low profile and compact construction. This setup allowed for optimal camera placement without disrupting the seating arrangement or the flow of the event. Adcock noted that this configuration enabled Filmscape to add more seating while still achieving high-quality livestream coverage.

Auto-Tracking and Connectivity Features

The KY-PZ510 camera’s AI-enabled auto-tracking feature was a significant asset during the event. It allowed the camera to follow the presenter automatically, reducing the need for manual operation and providing a seamless experience for both the speaker and the viewers. The cameras also offered internet connectivity, making it easy to livestream the event directly to Filmscape’s YouTube channel. The built-in Ethernet connectivity and multiple control options further enhanced the efficiency of the camera operations.

Adcock acknowledged that the use of JVC’s PTZ cameras played a crucial role in successfully livestreaming the conference. The cameras’ features allowed for effective coverage of the event, supporting Filmscape’s mission to provide film and television education to a broader audience across the Midwest.
