JVC Enhances PTZ Cameras with Firmware Version 3 Update

JVC Professional Video has announced the release of Firmware Version 3 for its KY-PZ510 and KY-PZ510N Connected Cam PTZ Cameras, which will be showcased at the 2024 NAB Show in booth C4720.

This latest update, available for free, introduces five new auto tracking settings: Standard, Area, Stage, Wide Area, and Fine Adjustment. These settings aim to provide users with enhanced tracking capabilities, suitable for various environments such as classrooms, corporate settings, and places of worship.

Enhanced User Controls and Settings
The firmware update extends the functionality of these cameras by allowing users to customize presets for exposure, color, and image settings. This enhancement is part of JVC’s initiative to standardize features across all its NDI®-enabled PTZ cameras. Joseph D’Amico, vice president of JVC Professional Video, emphasized that the improved auto tracking functionality is designed to follow a specific individual within the camera’s field of view, enhancing the camera’s utility in diverse settings.

Detailed Auto Tracking Settings Explained
The update includes a ‘Standard’ setting for basic tracking position adjustments, an ‘Area’ setting for defining stationary camera zones, and a ‘Stage’ setting for setting panning boundaries. The ‘Wide Area’ setting focuses on minimizing motion distractions by centering camera positioning, and the ‘Fine Adjustment’ mode allows for precise framing adjustments within six seconds. These settings cater to various filming conditions, offering users greater control over camera operations.

Remote Control and Web Interface Updates
Alongside the camera firmware, JVC has released an update for the JVC RM-LP100 Remote Camera Controller and its web interface, enhancing control over auto-tracking features through a WEB API. This update simplifies the process of selecting individuals for tracking or toggling the tracking feature on and off.

Advanced Camera Features and Multi-Camera Synchronization
The KY-PZ510 Series cameras boast a super-wide horizontal view angle of 80 degrees and a focal length range of 21.8 to 261.8 millimeters. They incorporate Vertical Interval Time Code (VITC) with Network Time Protocol (NTP) for synchronized multi-camera setups. Utilizing HEVC technology, the cameras deliver high-quality video at reduced bitrates, supporting remote production. The KY-PZ510N model additionally offers simultaneous output of NDI®, SRT, and RTMPS for versatile local and remote workflows.

Expansion of Preset Options Across JVC PTZ Cameras
With Firmware Version 3, JVC introduces new preset options for exposure, color, image, and PTZ settings, extending these capabilities to all NDI®-enabled JVC PTZ cameras, including the KY-PZ400N and KY-PZ200 Series. These series have also been upgraded to NDI Version 5 with their respective firmware updates, further enhancing the functionality and versatility of JVC’s PTZ camera lineup.
