Ki Pro GO2: AJA’s Next-Gen Multi-Channel Recorder for $4,749

Ahead of InfoComm 2024 in Las Vegas, AJA Video Systems has introduced the Ki Pro GO2, the next iteration of its Ki Pro GO multi-channel HD/SD recorder.

This portable, 2RU device offers upgraded features, enabling up to four channels of simultaneous H.265 (HEVC) or H.264 (AVC) recording. It supports cost-efficient USB 3.0 drives or network storage with redundant recording and single-channel playback, allowing production professionals to achieve higher quality images at lower bit rates and longer recording times.

Enhanced Connectivity and Versatility

The Ki Pro GO2 is designed with flexible connectivity options, including four 3G-SDI and four HDMI digital video inputs, accommodating a wide range of video sources. AJA President Nick Rashby highlighted the product’s versatility and user feedback influence, noting the extensive use of H.265 in various regions. The Ki Pro GO2 will be showcased at AJA’s InfoComm booth (C8321) from June 12-14, 2024.

User-Friendly Features

This device is equipped with a comprehensive feature set to ensure reliable, high-performance recording and playback across different environments, such as concert tours, sporting events, houses of worship, and universities. Key features include:

  • An HD display for precise monitoring.
  • Video monitoring and menu/status overlays with an on-screen keyboard.
  • Dedicated record, play, stop, rewind, and fast-forward buttons.
  • A standard Ethernet LAN connection for remote configuration and control via any web browser using the Ki Pro GO2’s intuitive web user interface (UI).
Advanced Recording Capabilities

The Ki Pro GO2 includes integrated input frame synchronizers, eliminating the need to genlock incoming video signals. High-quality de-interlacers on each input allow for progressive recordings from interlaced inputs. Multi-channel matrix monitoring enables the monitoring of multiple camera feeds on a single HDMI or SDI display. The audio functionality supports up to two channels of embedded audio from 3G-SDI or HDMI inputs, or two channels of Analog Audio from XLR ports, with options for Line, Mic, or +48V Phantom Power for level control. Additionally, one analog audio input can serve as a source for Longitudinal Time Code (LTC) insert.

Cost-Effective and Convenient Recording

Recording with the Ki Pro GO2 is both convenient and cost-effective, supporting various off-the-shelf USB media. The device also records in real-time to network storage via its Ethernet connection, and supports FAT or exFAT file systems for cross-platform use. Multi-channel recording ensures individual recordings for each input, allowing users to easily transfer files to creative software. The enhanced Super Out feature provides timecode overlay, audio VU meters, and media remaining percentages over SDI and HDMI monitor outputs. It also supports playback of HEVC/AVC files created in third-party creative applications.
