With the new PD KineBAT 99 and 200, Kinefinity has just released its third-generation V-mount battery system.
These 14.8V cells offer a larger capacity, dual D-Tap, PD USB-C ports, and 60W fast charging. Pricing starts at $279.
Earlier this year, Kinefinity launched the MAVO Edge 6K, a full-frame beast offering a 6K 3:2 Open Gate mode, uncompressed RAW and ProRes recording capabilities, and the same body design as its 8K sibling. The company is primarily known for its camera systems. However, they also offer a full ecosystem of accessories to go with them, from monitors to power solutions.
The latter include the existing KineBAT 75 and 150 V-mount bricks, whose battery life is now being extended with the addition of two higher-capacity models, the PD KineBAT 99 and 200.
The new Kinefinity PD KineBAT 99 & 200 are two 14.8V V-mount batteries with an increased capacity of 95Wh and 190Wh respectively. Although Kinefinity has designed these batteries to complement their MAVO Edge cameras, they can be used with virtually any camera system accepting traditional V-mount bricks.
The top of the batteries features two 10A D-Tap ports. Along with powering camera accessories, these can also be used to charge the V-mount cell. Additionally, two PD USB-C ports on the side enable fast charging up to 60W, while also supporting different voltage/amperage combinations (5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/3A, 15V/3A, 20V/2.25A, 20V/3A). One of these USB-C connectors also acts as an input port and allows charging the 95Wh model up to 80% of its capacity in about two hours, according to Kinefinity.
The front face of both battery models measures 86x106mm/3.4×4.2”, while depth varies between 55mm/2.2” for the 99Wh and 86mm/3.4” for the higher-capacity variant. The KineBAT 99 weighs 580g/1.3lbs, while the KineBAT 200 is heavier, coming at 1010g/2.2lbs. Both cells are protected by an ABS+PD plastic shell and feature a wave-shaped design on the side to ensure a solid grip.
