Exclusive Interview with Klaus-Joerg Jasper, Senior Sales Director Middle East & CIS at Lawo, at Cabsat 2024.
TKT1957: Could you introduce yourself and tell us about Lawo’s presence at Cabsat 2024?
Klaus-Joerg Jasper: Hello, my name is Klaus-Joerg Jasper from the German company Lawo. We are here at Cabsat 2024, and it has been a very busy exhibition. We are delighted to be here presenting our portfolio. Lawo, as a German manufacturer, offers a wide range of products, and at this Cabsat exhibition, we are showcasing our management and control solutions, physical inputs and outputs for video and audio, video and audio processing, and our graphical and hardware user interfaces.
TKT1957: What other products and solutions are you presenting here?
Klaus-Joerg Jasper: This time, we are focusing heavily on our HOME applications. HOME is a software platform that runs on a standard server and offers various applications such as a multiviewer, a mixing console, or other video processing tasks like stream transcoding or up/down/cross conversion. You can select an application like a multiviewer, and the system will automatically allocate this application to available server resources. As a modern broadcaster, you don’t need a dedicated box for each task. Instead, you have a pool of servers, and you load applications onto these servers to perform the required tasks. Once a task is completed, the application is freed up, and the server can be used for other tasks.
TKT1957: What are your thoughts on the future trends in the broadcast industry?
Klaus-Joerg Jasper: It is very clear that the industry is moving away from dedicated hardware. The future lies in software running on the cloud or on your own server farm. This is definitely the direction we are heading towards, and it represents the future of broadcasting technology.
