KoKo Sound Studios, a leading mixing facility in South Korea, has selected the Prism Sound Dream ADA-128 multichannel converter as part of a significant upgrade to support Dolby Atmos music mixing.

This choice was made to enhance the studio’s ability to attract international artists, particularly those interested in the increasingly popular K-Pop genre.

Studio’s Expansion into Dolby Atmos Mixing

Located at Haengju Fortress, KoKo Sound Studios is owned by Mr. Ko Hyun-Jung, who is known for his work across various music genres, including K-Pop, Hip-Hop, Rock, and R&B. The studio’s decision to upgrade to Dolby Atmos reflects its ambition to offer advanced audio capabilities and appeal to a broader range of clients.

To achieve a high-quality mixing environment, the studio required additional Dante outputs for its 7.1.4 Atmos setup and reliable analog converters for its existing console and outboard gear. Mr. Hyun-Jung, who also serves as the chief engineer, highlighted the need for a single integrated device to manage both their analog and Dolby Atmos setups. The Prism Sound Dream ADA-128 was chosen for its ability to fulfill all these requirements efficiently.

Although the primary reason for selecting the ADA-128 was its support for Dolby Atmos, Mr. Hyun-Jung noted that sound quality was a critical factor in the decision. He emphasized that the ADA-128 significantly reduces the quality loss typically associated with digital-to-analog conversion, preserving the clarity and power of the original source. Since its installation, the studio has observed a noticeable improvement in sound quality compared to their previous converter.

Integration and Collaboration

KoKo Sound Studios collaborates with Dreamfactory Studio, a content creation hub with music recording facilities. The Prism Sound Dream ADA-128 is now used for all studio projects, including both Dolby Atmos and stereo mixes. Recent projects at the studio include work for artists such as Lee Young-ji, Kiss Of Life, Lee Seung-Hwan, Yoon Jong-Shin, and many others.
