Lake People’s MC100 marks their inaugural venture into monitor controllers, blending a plethora of features with high-quality manufacturing. Now available at retailers and via cma.audio, this device offers varied input options.
It includes two balanced XLR inputs for standard studio setups, an unbalanced RCA input for another analogue source, and a front stereo minijack for easy mobile device connectivity. Additionally, a USB port is present for high-resolution digital input, capable of handling PCM signals up to 384 kHz and 32 bit, or DSD 256. The front panel allows users to select inputs easily, with options to have them override or work simultaneously.
Flexible Output Configuration The MC100’s output section is equally adaptable. It can connect up to three pairs of monitor speakers via XLR outputs, controllable from the front panel for selective or simultaneous use. Each output has a three-step attenuator for up to 12 dB adjustment, aiding in level-matching different systems. An extra subwoofer output remembers its setting when monitors are switched. Plus, there are two slave outputs for devices like meters or analyzers, independent of the main volume.
High-Quality Headphone Amplification Famed for excellent headphone amps, Lake People integrates a high-end headphone amplifier in the MC100. This amp powers headphones through 6.3-mm or 3.5-mm outputs. It not only offers superior sound quality but also features X-Feed, simulating a more natural, speaker-like sound, reducing ear fatigue over long sessions.
Comprehensive Monitoring Control The MC100 encompasses all key monitor controller functionalities. It has muting and dimming options for speakers, a mono switch, and solo buttons for individual channels. The device also allows for channel switching and phase-reversing the left channel. Volume control is precise, thanks to a high-quality Alps RK27 potentiometer with a substantial 50-mm knob.
