Lawo has announced the release of its Virtual Sound Card (VSC) for macOS 14 (Sonoma) and later versions.

The VSC allows Apple desktop and laptop computers to connect directly to RAVENNA/AES67 AoIP networks, making it suitable for both AoIP infrastructures and studio environments. Two versions of the VSC are available: a free version with basic features and a licensed version offering advanced capabilities.

Features of Lawo VSC

The Lawo Virtual Sound Card operates as a background service on macOS, converting local audio into RAVENNA/AES67 streams that comply with open AoIP standards. The licensed version supports up to 128 audio devices, 128 senders and receivers, and provides sampling rates of up to 96kHz. Additional features include PTP synchronization for precise timing, multicast and unicast streaming options, and support for SMPTE ST2110 and ST2022-7 standards, ensuring redundancy and reliability in professional workflows.

Control and Integration with Lawo HOME

For easier management, Lawo VSC integrates with the Lawo HOME platform, which allows centralized control and device discovery through mDNS and SAP protocols.

Availability and Versions

The free version of the Lawo Virtual Sound Card is available for download and includes basic functionality, such as one virtual audio device and two audio channels. The licensed version, with its expanded feature set, caters to more demanding professional environments requiring flexibility and scalability.
