LucidLink, Magicbox Unveil Virtual Production Workflow

LucidLink collaborates with Magicbox, showcasing a revolutionary virtual production workflow at Adobe Max 2023.

LucidLink, renowned for facilitating real-time data access and collaboration, has joined forces with Magicbox, innovators of the mobile virtual production studio. This partnership is set to redefine virtual production workflows for motion picture productions and immersive experiences, marking a significant advancement in the media and entertainment industry.

Virtual production, particularly within LED volumes, has dramatically transformed the industry, offering content producers enhanced control over the production process. This approach not only accelerates production timelines but also ensures safety and cost-effectiveness.

At Adobe Max 2023, this collaboration was brought to life with the debut of the Magicbox Mobile Superstudio. This state-of-the-art facility, encompassed within a transforming semi-trailer, features a fully equipped LED volume and computer control center. Attendees had the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in a virtual production set, taking part in a live-action jungle adventure movie, powered by LucidLink technology. This interactive exhibit, titled ‘Jungle Hunt,’ was set inside the 600-square-foot transforming semi-trailer, attracting over 10% of the event’s attendees.

Brian T. Nowac

Brian T. Nowac, CEO and Founder of Magicbox, emphasized the aim to showcase the boundless creative possibilities of virtual production. The experience was not just engaging but also offered attendees a glimpse into a high-end Hollywood production experience. The rapid production of personalized souvenir movies was made possible by LucidLink, which enabled remote editing of the footage directly from the cloud.

The Magicbox ‘Jungle Hunt’ activation showcased a blend of technologies integral to the media and entertainment industry. Footage captured on Red Komodo cameras was uploaded to Frame.io via the Camera2Cloud feature, then transferred to Lucidlink for quick editing. The final movie files were swiftly uploaded back to Frame.io, enabling attendees to download them directly to their mobile devices.

Peter Thompson

Peter Thompson, CEO and Co-Founder of LucidLink, highlighted the impact of this technology on creative processes, stating, “LucidLink is allowing Creatives to concentrate and create at the speed of thought rather than the speed of technology.” This partnership between LucidLink and Magicbox not only showcases innovative technological integration but also paves the way for future advancements in virtual production workflows.
