The device is designed to withstand dust entry and can be submerged in water up to 1 meter deep for a minimum of 30 minutes without damage.

Key Specifications and Features

Constructed entirely from metal, the DSSM offers robust durability. It is available in three different frequency tuning ranges: A1B1 (470-614 MHz), B1C1 (537-691 MHz), and 941 (941-960 MHz). A removable antenna is included, featuring an SMA mount for easy replacement or upgrades.

A standard miniature 3-pin locking input connector ensures secure attachment of microphones or other audio input devices. For battery power, the DSSM relies on the Lectrosonics LB-50 rechargeable lithium-ion battery, compatible with existing Lectrosonics charging solutions such as the CHS12LB50 and 40117 dual USB charger. This interchangeable battery system allows users to easily swap out batteries as needed.

In terms of operation, the transmitter includes user-friendly onboard buttons and a clear display, adopting the same menu structure found in Lectrosonics’ respected DBSM family of transmitters. Firmware updates can be conveniently applied via a USB jack located within the battery compartment, using Lectrosonics’ Wireless Designer software.

For charging, the DSSM is compatible with the optional CHSDSSM charging bay, which can charge up to four units or batteries simultaneously. This bay can be expanded by connecting additional units, allowing for the charging of up to 16 batteries or transmitters from a single DCR5/9AU power supply.

Featuring RF power settings of 10 and 35 mW in D2 mode and 2 mW for HDM mode, the DSSM also supports AES 256-bit CTR encryption with four key policies to meet a wide range of security requirements, from government to sports broadcasting. It is compatible with several Lectrosonics receivers, including the DSQD, DCHR, M2Ra, DSR, DSR4, and DCR822.

Packaging and Availability

The DSSM is offered individually, complete with an antenna, reversible belt clip, battery, and a zippered pouch for convenient storage and transportation. Additionally, it is available in “ZS” kits, which include a dual-battery USB charger.

The CHSDSSM 4-bay charging dock, sold separately, facilitates the charging of any combination of four units and/or LB-50 batteries. It can be linked with up to three additional docks for charging up to 16 units or batteries from a single power supply.
