Little Bay Broadcast Services LLC, one of New Hampshire’s leading broadcast system integrators, has chosen Ikegami UHK-X700 cameras for a television studio upgrade on behalf of a major corporate client.

Three cameras plus control equipment, viewfinders, lenses and teleprompters have been ordered for use in broadcast-grade content production and webcasting.

“The customer is a long-time user of Ikegami cameras seeking new HD models with an upgrade path to allow future production in ultra-high-definition,” says Little Bay TV Partner Brian Raynes. “The UHK-X700 is one of the newest additions to the Ikegami product range. Introduced into the US market at the April 2022 NAB Show in Las Vegas, it combines robust build quality with excellent optical and electronic performance plus a wide range of creative features and versatile connectivity. Each of the three cameras can be pedestal or tripod mounted, or operated over the shoulder, which provides great flexibility in production style.”

The front end of each UHK-X700 comprises three 2/3-inch CMOS UHD sensors with a global shutter to minimize artifacts when shooting LED screens or scenes illuminated with flash or strobe lighting. Full HDR/SDR support comes in the UHK-X700, plus the ability to choose between standard (Rec. 709) or wide (Rec. 2020) chroma gamut. HFR shooting at up to 2x speed in UHD or up to 8x in HD via the base station is possible as an option.

When combined with the Ikegami BSX-100 base station or CCU-X100 camera control unit, the UHK-X700 can output UHD/HD video formats simultaneously. IP interface of video, audio and intercom I/O is available conforming to SMPTE ST.2110 standards as an option at the base station or CCU. The OCP-300 panel supports control via Ethernet as well as Ikegami’s ICCP. UHD video can be sourced from the Ikegami UHK-X700 as a 12G-SDI feed directly from the camera head, allowing it to be integrated into a wireless system.

Weighing only 5 kg, the UHK-X700 incorporates a B4 lens mount and has an optical sensitivity of F10 when operating at UHD/59.94p. Peripheral options for the UHK-X700 include the OCP-300 control panel and SE-U430 system expander for large lens installation. Ikegami also offers a choice of two types of viewfinder for this model: the monocular VFL201D 2-inch LCD and the full HD VFL701D 7-inch LCD.
