The Modator series combines the trusted reliability and minimal latency known from Magewell’s standalone devices into a scalable, rack-mounted format.

Debut at NAB Show 2024

The Modator family is set to make its first appearance at the 2024 NAB Show in Las Vegas, from April 14 to 17, where attendees can explore the products at Magewell’s booth C6816.

Features of the Modator 2U Chassis

Designed for standard rack deployments, the Modator 2U chassis accommodates up to ten modules, allowing for extensive customization. Users can manage frame network settings and monitor the system’s status through a 4.8-inch LED touchscreen or a web-based interface. The chassis is engineered for continuous operation, supported by dual power supplies and advanced heat dissipation techniques.

Modular Capabilities for Flexible Configurations

The Modator modules, which are hot-swappable for ease of use, each provide independent network connectivity. This flexibility enables them to convert between various baseband video/audio signals and IP streams autonomously. Magewell offers a web-based management interface for individual modules, and the entire system can be centrally managed with the optional Control Hub software.

Initial Module Offerings

Magewell has announced the first four modules in the Modator series, all supporting the NDI® video connectivity technology. These include:

• The Pro Convert HDMI Plus Module, capable of encoding HDMI input signals into high-definition NDI High Bandwidth IP streams.
• The Pro Convert HDMI 4K Plus Module, which encodes HDMI inputs into NDI High Bandwidth IP streams at up to 4K resolution and 60 frames per second.
• The Pro Convert for NDI to HDMI Module, designed for decoding various IP stream formats into HDMI output, supporting resolutions up to 2560×1440.
• The Pro Convert for NDI to AIO Module, offering the same decoding capabilities as the HDMI module, with the addition of simultaneous HDMI and SDI outputs up to 1080p60.
