MainConcept, a company specializing in video and audio codecs, has recently upgraded its comprehensive, real-time encoding engine with the latest Version 3.4 of Live Encoder.
This new version not only includes MainConcept’s established HEVC and AVC codecs but also integrates the advanced VVC (Versatile Video Coding) and LCEVC (Low Complexity Enhancement Video Coding) technologies.
The Live Encoder 3.4 is designed to support live streaming in various formats, including MP4 and MPEG-2 TS, catering to MPEG-DASH, SRT, Zixi, UDP, and file archiving needs. The introduction of MainConcept’s AutoLive encoding technology in this version allows for real-time, multi-layered broadcasting in resolutions such as 8K, 4K, 1080p, and 720p.
Thorsten Schumann, the Senior Vice President of Engineering at MainConcept, highlighted that the Live Encoder 3.4, with its LCEVC and VVC capabilities, represents a significant step forward in live broadcast technology and formats.
Moreover, the integration of MPEG-5 LCEVC into the Live Encoder 3.4 was achieved through a collaborative effort with V-Nova. Schumann emphasized the joint innovation between MainConcept and V-Nova teams, which has been instrumental in realizing this integration. The addition of VVC to the Live Encoder solidifies the application’s readiness for future broadcasting demands.
