Qvest has introduced the latest addition to its Makalu product line: Makalu Automation.

This enterprise-level automation system is designed to control any third-party media playout products, both in the cloud and on-premise, offering versatility for a wide range of media workflows.

Addressing Key Challenges in Media Operations

According to Frank Mistol, Managing Director of Qvest Stream, Makalu Automation aims to address the challenges media organizations face in increasingly distributed production environments. The system eliminates the need for operators to switch between different control systems based on where the playout servers are hosted. Its environment-agnostic architecture allows it to control any playout workflows regardless of location, providing operational and economic advantages.

Cost-Saving Through Versatility

Makalu Automation enables operators to manage all third-party playout solutions through a single system, reducing the need for multiple control systems. This cuts both the upfront cost of technology and the expenses associated with operator training. Additionally, the product uses a subscription-based or usage-based pricing model, which provides flexibility in managing costs as needs grow.

Reliable for Various Playout Scenarios

The automation system is designed to be reliable across different media channels, including linear, OTT, FAST, and disaster recovery. It offers continuous, secure operation, even in 24/7 environments. Makalu Automation’s intuitive “single pane of glass” interface simplifies workflows and supports collaborative remote work with its access-from-anywhere functionality.

Removing Vendor Lock-in

Mistol highlighted that one of the key features of Makalu Automation is its ability to remove vendor lock-in, opening up media playout workflows for greater flexibility. This system allows broadcasters and media organizations to integrate various playout solutions without being tied to specific vendors.

Part of the Makalu Product Line

Makalu Automation joins the Makalu family, which includes products for linear playout, event/pop-up playout, and disaster recovery. The focus of the Makalu lineup is to deliver reliable, high-quality media content quickly and efficiently across various platforms.
