Mark Corl, the Senior Vice President of Emergent Technology Development at Triveni Digital, is slated to present the latest advancements in ATSC 3.0 technology at the 2024 NAB Show.
His talks will be part of the TechConnect 2024 event and the Broadcast Engineering and IT Conference (BEITC).
Innovations in Broadcasting
In his upcoming sessions, Corl plans to unveil new functionalities and potential applications for ATSC 3.0. He aims to share his enthusiasm for these developments with the broadcasting sector during the NAB Show this year. A significant portion of his discussion at the BEITC will be dedicated to the Broadcast Positioning System (BPS), which offers an alternative to GPS by providing a positioning, navigation, and timing system. Corl will delve into the importance of setting up a nationwide monitoring system in parallel and will propose methods for creating a network of transmitters based on ATSC 3.0 technology.
Focus on Broadcast Positioning System
The BEITC session titled “BPS as the Complementary PNT Solution,” scheduled for April 14, will detail how BPS can deliver highly accurate and traceable timing for critical infrastructure affordably. Corl plans to explain the structure of a BPS transmitter mesh network that enables national time synchronization with remarkable precision using ATSC 3.0 broadcasts. He will outline the key architecture and necessary equipment to implement such a network.
TechConnect 2024 Panel Participation
Additionally, Corl is set to participate in a panel discussion organized by the Public Media Venture Group at TechConnect 2024. The discussion, happening on April 12, will explore new standards and updates in ATSC 3.0, including tower networking, LDM and MIMO technology, audio services, enhanced emergency services, and automotive applications.
Expertise in ATSC 3.0
With more than two decades of experience in product engineering and architecture, and currently leading various ATSC 3.0 implementation teams, Corl brings a wealth of knowledge to these discussions. His contributions at both the BEITC and TechConnect are anticipated to offer valuable insights into the evolving landscape of broadcast technology.
