Interview with Mark Hempel, Head of Product Management, IHSE at ISE 2024.
Yeah, hello and welcome here in Barcelona at the ISE show at the IHSE booth. IHSE is a manufacturer for high-end KVM solutions supporting control room environments, process automation, live events, and any kind of IT-managed systems with the KVM infrastructure in order to allow for more flexible access to all the endpoints, collaboration, and more efficiency in the different workplaces. My name is Mark Hempel, and I’m responsible for the product management.
TKT1957: What are the main directions of development most characteristic in your segment of the industry?
Mark: What we’re presenting here is our latest technology on the KVM side, basically adding more usability to it. We are using a new HMI interface for making easy connections even to inexperienced people using our technology more easily in conference facilities but also in larger scale multi-console domain workspaces.
We also add more flexibility in connectivity of our system using IP infrastructure so we can add the charm of this inter-security of a proprietary KVM system, breaking out homogeneously into the IP world, allowing for more flexible access from different endpoints without additional infrastructural requirements.
TKT1957: What new products is your company showcasing at ISE 2024?
Mark: What’s completely new to the company and what we promote right around the corner over here is a new technology, a new video codec, which will be the underlying basis for all our technology in the near future.
So, we have a cooperation with Fraunhofer, and together with Fraunhofer and their development around JPEG XS as a video codec, we established a good partnership and we are designing an IP core designed in order to run the JPEG XS encoding and decoding on multiple platforms, FPGAs. Currently, we presented here on Xilinx and Intel-based FPGA designs, and we are using that IP core in our own products, but we are also going to offer it to partners, market companions, and whoever is in the AV world in order to standardize with this new codec to get visually lossless quality over the least amount of bandwidth and the least amount of latency, and having a future-compatible standard here for interconnectivity, not isolating technology from each other.
