Mark Roberts Motion Control (MRMC), a subsidiary of Nikon, is set to present its latest developments in robotic camera technology and virtual production processes at the NAB Show 2024.
This significant event for the broadcast, media, and entertainment sectors is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas from April 13-17. MRMC will be occupying two exhibition spaces to display its advancements in film and broadcast robotics.
Immersive Experience with The Unreal Ride 2024
Positioned in the Central Hall Lobby L2, MRMC’s Unreal Ride 2024 promises an engaging experience by merging state-of-the-art virtual production techniques with sophisticated camera robotics. The exhibition will feature the Bolt X and Cinebot Mini, allowing attendees to take part in a dynamic movie scene, shot with exceptional precision. The inclusion of the Cinebot Mini, which moves alongside the vehicle for close-up shots, introduces a novel aspect to narrative construction. Moreover, MRMC plans to offer a sneak peek of a new robotic solution slated for release later in 2024, with more details expected nearer to the show.
Participants will have the chance to customize their experience with various photo-realistic backgrounds, thanks to a partnership with Vu’s Vuone technology. This feature not only highlights MRMC’s capacity for technological integration but also provides visitors with a memorable take-home video through the Showbolt software.
Innovations Displayed at the Broadcast Booth
At its Broadcast Booth (C4925), MRMC will exhibit a range of innovative products:
- Slidekamera by MRMC & PTZ Enablement: This integration enhances the capabilities of broadcast and videography professionals by combining PTZ cameras with sliders, facilitating more dynamic storytelling and visual appeal. The Slidekamera range, including the RLS-1 (Rail Lift System), Atlas Slider with Bullhead Studio, and the PTZ Mover Kit, broadens MRMC’s robotic offerings and augments PTZ enablement solutions.
- Advanced Studio Robotics with VR Integration: Demonstrating the seamless incorporation of robotics into virtual production workflows, MRMC will showcase how its robotic systems, such as the Studiobot XL and AJS-2 (Advanced-Jib System), integrate with virtual graphics systems to synchronize camera angles and map positional data.
- Virtual Teleportation for Remote Collaboration: Another highlight is the Virtual Teleportation workflow technology, which allows for the synchronization of camera motion across locations. Utilizing 2 AFC 180+ robotic heads mounted on 2 LLS-1 (Light Lift System), this technology enables studios to create the illusion of subjects being in the same physical space, despite being in different locations, by seamlessly panning between remote and local feeds.
Assaff Rawner, CEO of MRMC, expressed enthusiasm about showcasing the company’s latest technological advances, emphasizing the aim to empower creators with innovative tools to bring their visions to life.
