Marshall in “360 Seconds. Broadcast News and Commentary”.
Hosts: Philip Grossman, host and co-producer at Visionaries; Mary Ann Seidler, owner of First Light Media and consultant for multiCAM Systems and Telos Alliance; and Maria Kholodova.
Maria: Marshall introduces CV630-NDIW UHD PTZ Camera: a 30X optical zoom powerhouse with 4K UHD resolution, advanced NDI|HX2 technology, and multiple outputs, perfect for diverse professional AV and broadcast applications.
Mary, I know you had some questions about it for Phillip.
Mary: Well, I do. We’re seeing a lot of different companies entering the PTZ camera market. What do you think makes this camera different? Is there anything unique that you’re seeing?
Philip: I don’t know if I’d say there’s anything unique about this one. The fact that they’ve included NDI, which seems to be pretty standard, is notable. It’s got HDMI, it’s got SDI. I think we’re seeing more of this because remote productions have become something practical. In the past, remote production was very difficult. Now that we’re able to get the signals back more easily, maybe we don’t need all the camera people. I also think we’re seeing more complexity in productions. People are trying to step up their game in terms of what they’re producing, which requires more cameras. This would also require more camera operators, and that tends to become expensive. So, it’s just that this camera is another player in the market. It’s good to see more players in the market. You have more opportunities and options to choose from, and hopefully, it’ll push other manufacturers to do similar things. The UHD and adding the NDI are good. I’d like to see JPEG XS or 2110 included, but those will come eventually.
Mary: I’m a big fan of that NDI.
Philip: Yeah. It simplifies things and makes them accessible to anyone without needing an expensive networking infrastructure.
