Maria: Matrox Video is set to demonstrate its products and share examples of how they help in broadcasting, live events, and other media-related activities. Among others, the exhibition will feature the Monarch EDGE series, known for its encoding and decoding capabilities, including support for 4K, multi-HD, low-latency streaming, and upcoming features such as HDR and Dolby audio. So, Philip, can you unpack this for us?
Matrox Video to Showcase Latest IP and IT Workflow Solutions at 2024 NAB Show
Philip: Yeah. Matrox has been around for a long time, I think 40-some odd years now, and they were the go-to for professional graphics cards. Play-out servers used the Matrox card. And then we started to slowly move towards Nvidia-based cards for a lot of this graphics. Of course, recently, I think in the last year or two, Matrox and Nvidia have started collaborating together to produce these new series of cards. And of course, Nvidia, with its acquisition of Mellanox, adds in that additional SMPTE ST 2110 and networking capability. So now, we’re starting to see the power of the graphics, the SMPTE ST 2110 IP-based solutions, and Matrox is really enabling a lot of that. It’s exciting to see what they’re doing. A lot of times, there wasn’t a lot of that sort of transcoder, SDI to IP, or just SMPTE ST 2110 in general, and they’re now enabling this on a smaller and larger scale. So, smaller organizations, larger organizations will be able to adopt the SMPTE ST 2110 technology. And then they’re adding, then layering in the graphics, which are the HDR and the standards conversion. So, the product set is really being filled out now. They’re still sort of the go-to for professional graphics organization and product line.
Maria: Thank you so much for joining us. Many thanks to our expert, Philip. And don’t forget to comment on the news we’ve discussed. See you next Monday at the same time!
