Mavis Camera v7.4 Adds Film Kit and Open Gate

Mavis announces version 7.4 of its professional iOS camera app, adding Film Kit as an optional in-app purchase.

Film Kit provides LUT workflows and Open Gate capture for creators who need more control and flexibility on iPhone and iPad.

LUT Workflow and Viewfinder Preview

Film Kit adds a new color workflow. Users can import .cube LUTs and choose to preview a look in the viewfinder without affecting the recorded file or apply the LUT directly to the final footage. The same workflow works with HDMI inputs through Atomos Ninja Phone, enabling LUT-based preview or capture from DSLR or mirrorless cameras, as well as the iPhone camera.

Mavis Camera v7.4 Adds Film Kit and Open GateBuilt-In Filter LUTs

The add-on includes built-in filter LUTs such as Bleach Bypass, Bunny, Cinematic, IR, Monochrome, and Vintage. These options give users quick ways to achieve specific visual styles and pass them through to later workflows, including live streaming or NDI.

Statement From Mavis

“With this latest version of Mavis Camera, we wanted to make cinematic decision-making feel effortless,” said Patrick Holroyd, CEO of Mavis. “Film Kit gives creators a practical way to monitor or capture the look they want, whether they’re shooting on an iPhone or a DSLR or mirrorless camera, without slowing down production.”

MLUT Format

Version 7.4 also adds MLUTs (MavisLUTs), a new file type that combines multiple LUTs and metadata in one file. This format helps teams organize looks when working across different color spaces.

Open Gate and Apple Log 2

Film Kit adds Open Gate capture with two modes: one for Apple Log workflows and one for Rec.709. Supported devices can record above 4K. Apple Log 2 support is included.

Cloud and Workflow Improvements

The update expands cloud features with free ATOMOSphere Camera-to-Cloud integration, allowing progressive upload to the Atomos ecosystem. Additional updates include new white-balance presets, improved shutter-angle snapping, updated translations (French, Spanish, Chinese, German, English), and various bug fixes.

Availability

Mavis Camera is free on the App Store. Film Kit costs USD $9.99 as a one-time purchase.
