NAB: Michael Biard Appointed to Television Board

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has announced the appointment of Michael Biard, President and Chief Operating Officer of Nexstar Media Group, Inc., to its Television Board of Directors, effective immediately.

This appointment was made by Television Board Chair Pat LaPlatney in accordance with NAB by-laws.

Leadership Role at Nexstar Media Group

In his role as President and COO at Nexstar, Biard is responsible for overseeing the company’s divisional operations and revenue streams, including broadcasting, networks, distribution, and advertising sales. Biard joined Nexstar in August 2023, bringing with him extensive experience from his 23-year tenure at FOX Corporation.

Career at FOX Corporation

Before his current position, Biard served as President of Operations and Distribution at FOX Corporation. In this role, he managed FOX’s studio operations and corporate real estate, and was part of the senior team responsible for sports rights strategy and acquisitions. He also led the multi-platform program and network distribution, which included strategy, affiliate marketing, and business affairs for FOX’s media brands. Additionally, Biard served on the boards of the Big Ten Network, the USFL, and several regional sports networks.

Previous Roles and Experience

From November 2013 to October 2018, Biard was the President of Distribution for Fox Networks Group. He managed distribution for Fox Broadcasting Company, FX, FOX News, FOX Sports, and National Geographic. Biard’s extensive experience in media and network distribution positions him as a significant advocate for NAB in addressing various critical issues impacting broadcasters today.

Educational Background and Succession

Biard holds a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University and a Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School. He assumes the board seat previously held by Andy Alford, President of Nexstar’s broadcasting division.
