Opinions of Business Leaders Of The Broadcast Industry On The Prospects And Problems of The Industry. Questions with Mikhail Akimov, CTO, SpatComSat, Kazakhstan.

Q1: What key trends in the broadcast market of Kazakhstan in 2022 can you note?

A: In my opinion, more attention is paid to cost optimization and the economic component when choosing a technical solution. In this regard, there is an increasing demand for services/solutions that allow avoiding capital expenditures and a radical replacement of existing equipment – partial hardware upgrades, and software upgrades.

In general, many companies have taken a wait-and-see attitude, which creates pent-up demand, which, in the absence of force majeure, closer to the second half of 2023, will allow them to start actively implementing new projects and acquiring technical solutions.

Q2. What technologies will be most in demand in 2023?

A: I believe that technologies related to mobile and Internet broadcasting, content delivery, for example, working with the SRT protocol, will be the most relevant. Also, taking into account state programs in the field of television and radio broadcasting, there will be a further introduction of digital broadcasting in the regions and sparsely populated areas.

You can learn more about the state of the broadcast segment of Kazakhstan and technical solutions that are of interest to this market at the International Hybrid Conference Broadcasting / Cinema / Pro AV 2023 Kazakhstan, which will be held February 28 – March 1, 2023 in Astana, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
