MotoCrane: New TITAN Gimbal Released

MotoCrane has unveiled TITAN, a new stabilized remote head designed to deliver exceptional performance and durability for large cinema cameras.

TITAN is touted as the most powerful 3-axis stabilized head globally, incorporating top-tier gyro stabilization technology in its design.

Innovative Design and Construction

Unlike traditional large gimbals which are assembled by welding or bolting various components, TITAN features a unified frame. This frame is constructed from a single piece of material using CNC machining, ensuring maximal strength and stiffness. This construction method enables TITAN to support a leading payload capacity of up to 90 pounds (approximately 41 kilograms).

Advanced Motor Technology

TITAN distinguishes itself as the first 3-axis gimbal worldwide to employ slotless motors. These motors avoid the cogging issue commonly associated with standard brushless motors, thereby providing smooth stabilization for heavy payloads. The gimbal boasts over 3000 watts of peak power and 18 Newton-meters of torque per axis, and can operate at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.

High-Tech Features and Capabilities

TITAN includes 12G-SDI slip rings on all axes, allowing unrestricted 360-degree movements while transmitting 4K video at 60 frames per second. A Fiber Optic Gyro comes standard, optimizing performance from the outset without requiring costly future upgrades. Additionally, TITAN is rated IP65, indicating its ability to function in direct rain with its electronics fully protected.

User-Friendly Controller with Versatile Features

The TITAN Controller is designed with a 7.0-inch touchscreen interface, and offers customizable input modules for joysticks and focus wheels. It can connect directly to TITAN for wired control or operate wirelessly using a 2.4 GHz radio, with an optional upgrade to a long-range (900/868 MHz) radio capable of reaching over 1.8 miles (3 km). The controller also features three D-Tap power outputs and a 3-pin XLR for 24V power supply to high-power cameras such as the Alexa 35 and Venice 2.

Compatibility and Plug-n-Play

TITAN’s integrated 3-channel motor driver is compatible with MotoCrane’s own Lens Control Motors and popular third-party options from Hedén and Redrock Micro.

Pricing and Availability

TITAN is currently available for pre-order and is scheduled to start shipping in August. The company has listed various package options for potential buyers.
