MultiDyne Introduces MDoG Series at NAB Show 2024

At the upcoming NAB Show 2024, MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems will launch its latest openGear solutions, the MDoG Series, designed to facilitate the transition between SDI and IP technology.

The MDoG Series includes modules equipped with SMPTE ST 2110 network interfaces and JPEG-XS codecs, which aim to efficiently handle both uncompressed and compressed signals across different systems. MultiDyne’s booth, C7107, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, will be the debut location for this series from April 14-17.

MDoG-6060: Bridging Uncompressed 4K and HD Video

The MDoG-6060 modules mark MultiDyne’s entry into IP Gateway solutions specifically for uncompressed ST 2110 networks. These modules are designed to convert SDI signals to IP, supporting a wide range of bandwidth requirements, particularly for uncompressed 4K and HD video. Available in various I/O configurations, the MDoG-6060 supports 3G-SDI and 12G-SDI systems. Each configuration includes dual 25GB network interfaces to ensure redundancy, adhering to the SMPTE ST 2022-7 standard for seamless stream integrity and reassembly.

A Commitment to Versatile Video Transport

Frank Jachetta, CEO of MultiDyne, highlighted the company’s expertise in video transport solutions, emphasizing their role in assisting customers with managing the flow of video, audio, and data signals in various environments. The new openGear solutions are touted as essential for broadcasters looking to integrate traditional equipment into modern media setups.

Transition to ST 2110 Workflows

Jesse Foster, VP of Products and Western Sales, discussed the industry’s gradual shift to ST 2110 workflows, noting the existence of SDI technology within current infrastructures. The MDoG-6060 modules serve as gateways to incorporate signals from existing technology into ST 2110 networks, addressing the needs of facilities that have invested heavily in non-ST 2110 compliant equipment.

Enhanced Efficiency with MDoG-6061 JPEG-XS Codecs

The MDoG-6061 modules are designed to meet the demands for high-density signal transport, especially where uncompressed transport is not feasible. These modules, which support low-latency compression and decompression of up to two channels of 12G-SDI, offer significant bandwidth efficiency and redundancy through dual 10GB network interfaces. Foster emphasized the cost-effective benefits of JPEG-XS compression, highlighting its negligible impact on latency and visual quality, making it ideal for live production environments.
