
The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has appointed Nandu Machiraju as the new senior vice president and deputy general counsel.

He will operate under the supervision of Rick Kaplan, the chief legal officer and executive vice president of Legal and Regulatory Affairs at NAB.
In his new role, Machiraju is tasked with developing and promoting the association’s policy objectives on a wide array of issues pertinent to both radio and television broadcasters. His responsibilities include leading the industry’s advocacy on NextGen TV and handling various spectrum-related and regulatory matters.
Before his appointment at NAB, Machiraju was a partner at Baker & McKenzie LLP, where he provided guidance on antitrust and regulatory issues under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the U.S. Department of Justice. His career at the FTC included serving as attorney adviser to Chairman Joseph Simons, overseeing appellate litigation, antitrust enforcement, merger reviews, and relations with Congress. Machiraju started his legal career at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, specializing in antitrust law.
Machiraju holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from George Washington University, a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago, and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.
