NANLITE has just introduced a new bi-color LED light that is designed to fit in small studio configurations, the FS-60B.
It features a 2,700-6,500K CCT range, two operating modes, native FM mount, 2.4G/Bluetooth connectivity, and 12 built-in lighting effects.
Back in May, NANLITE released the Forza 60C, a portable full-color spotlight that packs advanced features in a compact body, including an RGBLAC engine, a massive CCT range (1,800-20,000K), and DMX control. While this model can seamlessly fit into professional workflows, it comes with overkill specs for most content creators out there.
Hence, the company is now trying to target entry-level customers with a new all-in-one 70W bi-color fixture, the NANLITE FS-60B. This product expands the FS-Series on the lower end of the intensity spectrum, sitting next to the existing FS-300B, FS-300, FS-150, and FS-200 models.
NANLITE FS-60B: bi-color LED light for small studios. The new NANLITE FS-60B is a compact and lightweight LED fixture with a claimed power consumption of 70W. The light source is completely dimmable from 0 up to 100% of its intensity, and its color temperature is adjustable between 2,700 and 6,500K.
According to the manufacturer, when using the included reflector and setting the light to 5,600K, the FS-60B can reach a maximum output of 13,360 lux at a distance of 1 meter. Although this is an entry-level product, it should still provide an accurate output, as the company claims CRI 96, TLCI 97, TM-30 Rf 95, and TM-30Rg 101 average ratings.
Moreover, this tiny fixture inherits some of the advanced features that can be found on higher-end models, such as the Forza 720B, including Maximum Output and Constant Output modes. The former provides the maximum brightness for each color temperature value, while the latter maintains an even level of intensity across the whole CCT range.
The front of the lamp head features a proprietary FM mount, but in the box, you will also find a Bowens mount adapter. This makes the FS-60B compatible with a vast range of proprietary and third-party light modifiers for achieving both soft and hard qualities of light. Furthermore, an umbrella accessory can be attached either directly to the fixture body or to the Bowens mount adapter.
Lastly, like most bi-color lights these days, the NANLITE FS-60B packs a series of 12 built-in lighting effects. These include CCT Loop, INT Loop, Flash, Pulse, Storm, TV, Paparazzi, Candle/Fire, Bad Bulb, Firework, Explosion, and Welding.
Design, control, and power
The NANLITE FS-60B features an all-in-one design, meaning it doesn’t require a ballast to be fired up. The lamp head is extremely compact and lightweight, thus it can be a great addition to a small home studio setup. The fixture measures 247x134x87mm/26.2×15.2×14.9” in size and only weighs 850g/1.87lbs.
The rear side of the lamp grants access to an LCD screen and onboard controls, but the light also packs 2.4G and Bluetooth connectivity. Hence, users can adjust settings remotely using a dedicated controller (optional) or the NANLINK app for smart devices (iOS/Android).
Its official retail price is $179.
