Key Features of MLS-X1

The MLS-X1 is an integral part of the Sony Networked Live ecosystem, which leverages connected hybrid on-premises and cloud capabilities for high-quality, mission-critical live situations.

Current Usage and Benefits

Segar noted that the new MLS-X1 Live Switchers are currently being used in Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland for various projects, productions, and events. This versatility and efficiency within NEP’s production ecosystem are enhanced by the MLS-X1’s ability to allocate switcher resources between virtual configurations and integrate additional hardware seamlessly. The native ST-2110 support facilitates easy integration into NEP’s existing facilities, streamlining production workflows.

Meeting Evolving Demands

As NEP continues to lead in producing events requiring more resources due to the rise of 4K content and larger switcher configurations, the MLS-X1 has proven to be a valuable asset. Segar emphasized that the MLS-X1’s expandability and efficient resource use allow for configuration in large global 4K productions or smaller HD productions as needed. NEP typically uses one or multiple MLS-X1s in their Andrews production hubs to manage major sports coverage weekly.

Partnership with Sony

Anthony Kable, CCS Group Manager at Sony Australia, highlighted the successful technology partnership with NEP across its global operations. He expressed satisfaction with the MLS-X1’s integration and acceptance by NEP.
