NETGEAR Partners with Panasonic Connect to Enhance KAIROS Platform for Live Production

NETGEAR, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTGR), a premier network product provider for businesses of all sizes, has entered into a partnership with Panasonic Connect to enhance the KAIROS IT/IP Platform’s interoperability for live production.

This collaboration highlights the integration of NETGEAR’s M4350 series switches, which are ST 2110-capable, aligning with NETGEAR’s mission to offer AV-over-IP solutions for the broadcast and professional AV sectors.

Partnership Announcement

NETGEAR and Panasonic Connect have announced their collaborative efforts to advance live production technology through the KAIROS IT/IP Platform. This platform is designed to offer professionals extensive control over content delivery across various mediums such as broadcast, large displays, and live streaming. KAIROS integrates ST 2110 standards, enhancing its baseband and streaming capabilities. This facilitates unmatched input/output versatility, complemented by a user-friendly interface that simplifies content creation.

NETGEAR’s AV-Focused Managed Switches

NETGEAR’s lineup, including the M4250, M4300, M4350, and M4500 series managed switches, stands out for its AV-centric operational interface. This interface eschews the typical complex IT networking setup for a more straightforward, template-driven configuration method. This approach significantly reduces the complexity and time required for broadcast and professional AV integrators to initiate projects, ensuring accurate network settings for their workflows.

M4350 Series Features

The M4350 series combines ease of use with enterprise-level features, such as redundant power supplies, Power over Ethernet (PoE) with up to 90W per port, ultra-quiet fans, and management via the NETGEAR Engage™ Controller. NETGEAR’s AV OS™ includes pre-configured profiles for major audio, video, and lighting protocols, encompassing AVB, Dante, AES67, NDI4/NDI5, NVX, and many others. Specifically, the VSM4320C and XSM4344C models of the M4350 series support SMPTE ST 2110, offering 10G to 100G ports and PTP synchronization.

Industry Leaders’ Perspectives

Tod Musgrave, Senior Broadcast BDM at NETGEAR, emphasized the company’s initiative to simplify the transition from legacy to IP workflows for broadcast and professional AV engineers. This partnership with Panasonic’s KAIROS system exemplifies NETGEAR’s commitment to interoperability and user-friendly solutions in the industry.

Tod Musgrave

Kageyuki (Kenny) Fujimoto, Lead Manager of KAIROS Alliance Partners, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with NETGEAR. He highlighted the potential of the M4350 series’ template-based configurations to foster opportunities for SMPTE ST 2110 in video production, marking a significant step forward through this collaboration.
