Sigma launches its 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS lens for L-Mount and Sony E-mount

Sigma has officially released its much-anticipated 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS lens, compatible with full-frame Sony E-mount and L-mount cameras from Leica, Sigma, and Panasonic.

Sigma has unveiled its latest lens, the 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS Sports, specifically crafted for full-frame mirrorless cameras. This lens boasts innovative Dual HLA motors for quick, precise, and quiet autofocus, ideal for fast-moving subjects. It’s particularly suited for videography, offering minimal focus breathing and an optional D-clicked iris.

The lens incorporates an advanced Optical Stabilizer with the OS2 algorithm, providing up to 7.5 stops of stabilization, ensuring sharp images in low-light conditions without a tripod. Optically superior across all focal lengths and apertures, it comes with professional-grade features like a de-clickable aperture ring, Arca Swiss compatible foot, a Focus Limiter, and robust weather-sealing.

In terms of autofocus, the SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS Sports employs a unique floating focus mechanism. Two HLA motor-driven focus groups move oppositely, reducing internal movement and enabling quick, precise, and almost silent autofocus, perfect for capturing dynamic sports, wildlife, aviation, and special event moments.

The lens’s OS2 optical stabilization features a unique algorithm by Sigma, offering a remarkable 7.5-stop benefit at 70mm and a 5.5-stop advantage at 200mm. It includes two stabilization modes: Mode 1 for general photography and Mode 2 with Intelligent OS for smoother panning. The stabilization works effectively in various orientations, including vertical and diagonal movements, and complements panning actions.

Designed to minimize focus breathing, the lens ensures a consistent angle of view while focusing, essential for videography. Advanced simulations and high-quality glass elements reduce flare and ghosting, even in backlit conditions.
