Tokyo-based global video transmission pioneer Nexion has turned to LiveU to increase coverage in Japan, implementing its multi-cam LU800 field unit.
Nexion provides broadcasters and media with high-quality, live transmission of a wide variety of events across sport, music concerts and conferences. Its domestic and international backbone fiber networks connect dozens of broadcasters, production companies and media to major event venues.
While fiber optic network coverage in major stadiums is good, Nexion needed a cost-effective solution. LiveU’s 1U rackmount contribution encoder LU610 will be used for women’s sports broadcasts this season, and the portable multi-camera LU800 technology will be used for men’s sports games in the future.
Mr. Nakajima, Deputy General Manager of Nexion’s Sales Division, explains the background to the introduction of LiveU, said: “I have been paying attention to IP bonding technology for some time, and have been thinking about what kind of added value it can add to our portfolio. Previously, there were concerns about stability, but after taking a closer look at LiveU’s technical performance, those concerns disappeared. With LiveU, Nexion adds new flexibility and mobility, and this is highly cost-effective. Of course, quality is also important, and LiveU is highly rated in this regard as well.”
In addition, Mr. Hamada, Nexion Sales Headquarters Technical Support Group, emphasized the ease of use of LiveU. He said: “Once you set it up, you can control it on the MCR side just by turning on the power on-site, so the person capturing the footage can concentrate on shooting the best content without worrying about LiveU operation.”
LiveU Asia General Manager Yaal Eshel said: “We are grateful that industry leaders like Nexion appreciate our technology for its capabilities, our expertise and quality of service. This is absolutely the case across sports broadcasting and LiveU’s solutions will continue to open up new possibilities in news, entertainment and other areas.”
