NOA Shares an Archiving Project During ASBU

NOA Shares an Archiving Project During ASBU tkt1957.comFollowing on the heels of the AV digitizing and archiving specialist’s participation in the International Conference on Audio-visual Archiving and Preservation in Johannesburg, South Africa, June 7–8, NOA Archive is now heading to Tunis, Tunisia to exhibit at the ASBU Radio & TV Festival & Convention. This year’s ASBU event, takes place June 12–15, and marks its 23rd edition.

Vienna, Austria— 12 June, 2023

For NOA, both of these events represent strategic gatherings that address the fundamental issues and needs related to national audiovisual heritage. That’s why NOA shared the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority’s archiving journey in Johannesburg and intends to partage the same valuable use case in Tunis, which highlights and perfectly illustrates the success and efficiency of Sharjah Broadcasting Authority’s archiving journey.

Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA, formerly known as Sharjah Media Corp.), is a government organization dedicated to developing the media industry in the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, has ordered a second Archive Asset Management (AAM) mediARC system from AV digitizing and archiving specialist NOA GmbH.

NOA Signs Major Deal With Abu Dhabi Media

SBA took delivery of its first mediARC in Q2, 2017 for the digitization and management of its entire legacy video archive consisting of 140,000 hours of Betacam, DigiBeta, U-matic, One Inch, and MiniDV tapes to SBA’s enterprise datacenter.

During the Johannesburg gathering, Sharjah´s Broadcasting Authority discussed successful way to insource a complete archive ingest and outgest workflow. Mrs. Wigdan Nassr Abdelrahman, a broadcast engineer who founded Sudan Radio, discussed how she managed — initially as an employee and then as NOA consultant — to convert Sharjah from a non-archive oriented broadcaster to an archiving-aware client. Her role, as a female engineer with the passion for archive, has inspired not only her country but the global industry as a sign of progression in respecting diversity.

Abdelrahman also delivered an exceptional presentation during the ASBU pre-conference meeting on Sunday, 11th of June about the ongoing project at Sharjah Broadcasting Authority. She and Jean-Christophe Kummer, NOA’s CEO, will be available for any follow-up questions throughout the entire conference.

“I really appreciated how Abdelrahman highlighted the process she initiated and successfully completed at and for Sharjah,” said Kummer. “SBA was the first in the region to apply the groundbreaking technique using our Archive Asset Management system, which consists of keeping three copies of documents in two separate locations that are accessible at all times. They are a great example of how insourcing processes are beneficial and effective for any organization”.
